1. Our Commitment

BeeheadStudio is committed to ensuring that our website, beeheadstudio.digital, is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as required by the European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882/EU, in the Netherlands implemented via the Wet toegankelijkheid van websites en mobiele applicaties van overheidsinstanties and related consumer legislation).

2. Measures We Have Taken

To improve accessibility, BeeheadStudio has implemented the following measures:

  • Semantic HTML5: Proper use of headings (H1→H2→H3), landmarks (<header>, <main>, <footer>, <nav>), and lists.
  • Skip navigation: A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page for keyboard users.
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are accessible via keyboard. Focus indicators are visible (≥ 3px outline).
  • Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (≥ 4.5:1 for normal text, ≥ 3:1 for large text).
  • Text alternatives: All meaningful images have descriptive alt attributes. Decorative images have alt="".
  • Form accessibility: All form inputs have associated <label> elements and aria-required attributes.
  • ARIA labels: Icon buttons and non-obvious interactive elements include aria-label attributes.
  • Language declaration: <html lang="en"> (or "nl" when Dutch is active) is set on all pages.
  • Responsive design: The website is fully responsive across mobile, tablet and desktop screen sizes.
  • Reduced motion: Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
  • Cookie consent: Our cookie consent banner is fully keyboard-accessible and screen-reader-compatible.

3. Compliance Status

We believe this website is substantially compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We continue to work towards full compliance and address any identified issues promptly.

Known limitations we are actively working on:

  • Some third-party embedded content (e.g., maps) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Older blog posts may not have fully optimised heading hierarchies — these are being reviewed.
